Plenty of fixtures called flush mount or semi flush actually hang several inches, or a foot, below the ceiling. This one is genuinely flush: 6.5 in overall, sitting tight to the plaster. Under a low ceiling, in a hallway, or over a stair landing, those inches are the whole reason to choose a flush mount, so it is worth saying that this one delivers them.

Inside are two E26 lights rather than one, spread within the 14 in shade so the glass lights more evenly across its width. The shade itself is ribbed, pressed into vertical flutes that break the light into soft bands rather than a hard glare, and give the fixture a farmhouse texture that reads even when it is switched off.
