This is the choice that actually changes the room, and almost nobody explains it. A glass shade glows, and light fills the space. A painted metal shade is opaque, so every bit of light goes straight down. Tap one and watch what changes.
The stage is an illustration, not a photograph. Real rooms vary with ceiling height, wall colour and the bulb you fit. The point is the difference: glass spreads light, metal aims it.

- A dimmable bulb and dimmer, only if you want to dimThe pendant itself has no dimming built in. Dimming comes from the bulb: fit a dimmable E26 and a compatible dimmer switch and it will dim beautifully.
- An electrician, if ceiling wiring isn't your thingIt's a hardwired fixture. If you've swapped a ceiling light before, you can do this. If not, we'd rather you called someone.
The bulb is deliberately not included. An E26 socket means you pick the brightness, the warmth and the look of the filament yourself, rather than living with whatever we chose for you.

The Milk Glass, Clear Glass and Smoke Glass shades are genuine glass — you can feel it the moment you lift one out of the box. The Ivory, Sage Green, Dark Olive, Dark Bronze, Regal Blue and Brass shades are matte powder-coated metal, which is opaque by design. Nothing in the range is plastic.
It changes the light completely. A glass shade lets light pass through, so the shade itself glows and the whole room is lit softly. A painted metal shade is opaque, so no light escapes sideways and all of it is thrown straight down into a focused pool. Glass spreads light; metal aims it. Pick the one that suits the job, not just the colour.
No bulb is included. It takes any standard E26 bulb up to 60W, so the brightness, the warmth and the look of the filament are your choice. To dim it, fit a dimmable E26 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch — the dimming comes from the bulb, not the fixture.
The rod adjusts, so you set the drop when you install it: roughly 13 in to 51 in of overall height depending on the size. Over a table or island, leave about 30 to 36 in between the bottom of the shade and the surface.
