The Halophane is built around a round brass disc backplate: the single head mounts straight onto it, and the larger sizes carry a slim brass rod out to either side with turned bell heads spaced along it. It scales from a single head to five, and each added head extends it by about 7.5 in, so you size it to the wall or the thing it lights. The 1-head is a picture light; the 3-head (about 21 in) is the classic vanity-bar width; the 4 and 5-head handle larger vanities, counters, and full-wall picture installs.
